What do you need for a great Website?

I would say the first and most important thing is simplicity.
Simplicity in the layout. Simplicity in the writing. Simplicity in the navigation.
A few other things...
Ease of use.
Your potential clients don't want loads of clicks or lots of writing. People don't have the time. You don't want them searching for more than 30secs for something.
Great photos
This is especially true if you are 'selling' you as the product... think Therapist, Accountant, etc. You are the product. It is the services you provide but people can get that anywhere. They want to work with someone they know and trust.
Clear content
Your content about what you do and who you are needs to be clear and concise. More wording can be added on further pages if needed.
Talk about you
Your credentials are important, but so is your 'downtime'. What do you do for fun? A few lines will encourage the trust factor. Or perhaps put in a 'slice of life' from your team members.
Clear calls for action
Make sure there are many places that they can quickly contact you. In this day and age, you want to have many options including text and social media.
Mobile and SEO
The majority of people are now using their cellphones 75% of the time rather than desktop. Your site needs to be mobile friendly. Having keywords and optimization is also going to accelerate you being found.
There are many other items, but this is a great foundation.
PS. We love designing websites for small businesses and non-profits. Asking great questions is our jam and then getting to work to design it is the best!
